Aftercare
A treasured piece of jewellery is forever. Show your jewellery some love, by following the below tips:
Everyday Care:
Your bespoke jewellery has been crafted to be worn every day, but it is still a piece of fine jewellery that required a little love.
Although we use high-quality materials and pay great attention to detail during the making process, it's important to remember that your jewellery can still be susceptible to damage if it's not cared for properly. To ensure that your jewellery is loved and adored for a lifetime, it's essential to give it the same love and attention in return.
Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. It's best to store each piece separately to avoid scratches and tangles. Ideally store in the original packaging or a jewellery box to keep your jewellery safely protected.
Examine your jewellery regularly to make sure claws are intact and stones are not moving in their setting. Even a small knock can result in a stone moving in its setting. This usually isn’t something to be alarmed about, but you should not waste time in booking an appointment to have the setting checked and tightened. We’ll also use this opportunity to give your jewellery a complimentary deep clean and thorough check-over.
Avoid wearing your jewellery when exercising, playing sport, swimming or gardening to prevent knocking or scratching.
Cleaning your jewellery:
For a diamond to show off it’s true brilliance it needs to be clean. The easiest way for you to add extra sparkle to your jewellery is with the Diamond dazzle stik® by Connoisseurs.
Alternatively, an easy at home method is to use a great quality washing up liquid, hot water and an electric toothbrush with an old, soft brush. Simply, coat your ring with washing-up liquid and gently clean with an electric toothbrush. You will need to pay particular attention to the back of the setting as this is where dirt collects. After a couple of minutes, the hot, soapy water will have cut through any grime, restoring your diamond’s natural brilliance.
Once finished, simply dab with a clean, soft cloth - make sure you aren’t transferring more grease onto the stone with a dirty cloth!
Please note that diamonds are incredibly hard, however sapphires, rubies and emeralds are much softer and more prone to chipping, scratching and abrading. Great care needs to be taken when wearing and cleaning all precious stones, particularly sapphires, rubies and emeralds.
To clean gold, silver & platinum use a soft cloth. We recommend the compact jewellery wipes by Connoisseurs.
To protect your jewellery, please avoid using chemical cleaners, and please note that household items such as hairspray and perfumes can dull the look of your jewellery and may damage the finish overtime.
Jewellery with a matt finish may take on a polished look over time. If this does occur, please get in touch and we will organise a refinish.
